TradeLine for electricians

Up in a ceiling when the phone rings?

You're in a roof space or halfway through a switchboard, and the phone rings out. TradeLine texts the caller straight away, asks the address, what they need and whether anything is sparking, and sends you the details. You keep your own number.

Why electricians lose jobs to missed calls

Sparkies can't answer from a ceiling or with a live board open. A customer with no power doesn't wait long before ringing the next electrician.

Knowing up front whether it's a dead power point or something burning lets you sort urgent jobs from the ones that can wait for tomorrow.

The texts your customer gets

These are the questions TradeLine sends for electricians, word for word. The business and the names are an example.

If they call, they first hear: "Sorry, Southside Electrical can't get to the phone right now. We'll send you a text message in a moment."

Hi, it's Southside Electrical. Sorry we missed your call! A few quick questions so Leah can call you back ready. What's your name?
Tom
Thanks! What's the address or suburb, and is it a house, unit or business?
8 Banksia Ave Nerang, house
What do you need? E.g. power out, switchboard tripping, lights, power points, hot water, fan, or a new install.
Kitchen power points are dead
Last one: anything sparking, burning or unsafe, and when's a good time for Leah to call?
Nothing sparking. Anytime tomorrow
Thanks! Leah has your details and will call you back as soon as possible. If you can smell burning or see sparks, switch it off at the switchboard.
And you get:
Missed call - Southside Electrical
From: +61412345678
Name: Tom
Address: 8 Banksia Ave Nerang, house
Needs: Kitchen power points are dead
Safe / call time: Nothing sparking. Anytime tomorrow
Call them back: +61412345678

Texts go to callers on Australian mobile numbers. Anyone else (a landline, an overseas number) hears: "Sorry, Southside Electrical can't get to the phone right now. Please call back a bit later, or send a text to this number."

An hour later a reminder SMS follows, so no job slips through. If someone calls again within 4 hours, they don't get the questions twice: we just let you know they called again.

How it works

1. Customer rings you

They call your normal mobile, same as always. If you pick up, nothing changes.

2. You can't answer

After about 20 seconds, or if you're on another call, your phone company passes the call to your TradeLine number. Within seconds the caller gets a text from you.

3. You get the job

They answer 4 quick questions by text, and you get one SMS with everything you need to call back ready.

Fair questions

What does TradeLine ask my customers?

Four short questions written for electricians, one text at a time: name, address, needs, safe / call time. The answers come to your mobile in one SMS.

Can I change the questions?

On Standard you get the questions shown here. On Pro we set up your own wording for you.

Do I have to change my number?

No. Customers keep calling your normal mobile. TradeLine only steps in when you don't answer.

Does it use AI?

No. Every message is written in advance, so nothing is made up on the fly and nothing weird gets sent in your name.
